Bills will fill in WR spot with remaining receivers

As it seems that wide receiver Terrell Owens is determined to find a new job out of the Buffalo Bills and unrestricted free agent Josh Reed will not stay without a demanded contract, the Bills are in need of wide receivers but they will not look for one outside the team on the free agent market.


According to reports, the Bills seem content to allow its in-house options to compete for the job. And general manager Buddy Nix said at the NFL owners’ meetings that the Bills is not going to target any of the current free-agent wide receivers but would like to offer the chance to those lesser-used pass catchers inside the Bills.

Thus the Bills have several choices with James Hardy and Steve Johnson to back up starting receiver Lee Evans. Hardy was a highly touted second-round pick when he put on the Bills jersey two years ago as a rookie, and Johnson is entering his third season with the Bills but finished the last season with just two grabs. Besides, the Bills can also pick a young receiver from the draft that begins next month.

Bills G Incognito has to play $50,000 for NFL fine

The Buffalo Bills guard Richie Incognito was fined $50,000 by the NFL on Friday for two unnecessary roughness fouls that happened in a game he played in the St. Louis Rams jersey. Thus the most significant thing in his first week with the Bills was no more than the fine.


Playing last Sunday in the St. Louis Rams’ 47-7 loss to the Tennessee Titans, Incognito head butted Titans defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks in the first half. He did the same thing to Titans safety Vincent Fuller later in the half, and then he was benched by Rams Coach Steve Spagnuolo. And two days later, the Rams announced to release him. Another two days later, the guard joined the Bills.

Incognito was fined for the head-butt on Marks and for a late hit against Fuller. The infractions were his fifth and sixth for unnecessary roughness this season. The five-year veteran has frequently landed in trouble for playing long after the whistle and was named the dirtiest player in the NFL earlier this year by The Sporting News.

In a letter to Incognito, NFL executive vice president of football operations Ray Anderson wrote: “Future infractions of the types you have committed may lead to increased disciplinary action up to and including suspension.”

Bills WR Parrish is unhappy for losing punt-return job

“I’m frustrated, very frustrated,” Roscoe Parrish said Thursday about being put inactive against the New York Jets last weekend. “To be honest with you— not to bad-mouth nobody, not to bad-mouth Jauron, you know—my resume speaks for itself.”

The NFL’s leading punt returner has the reason to be unhappy, although he was careful in saying he didn’t want to “bad-mouth” Coach Dick Jauron. Parrish tops the NFL career list by averaging 13.1 yards on punt returns, has the franchise record with 1,385 return yards and has also scored three touchdowns.

After the Bills signed Terrell Owens in March, Parrish’s role as wide receiver has been decreasing as he dropped to fourth on the depth chart. He had asked for a chance to put on other team's NFL jersey this offseason but got no response and the chances just ended Tuesday as the NFL trading deadline passed.

Bills Lynch finished serving suspension and returned to team

Now the Buffalo Bills are more confident in their running back as Marshawn Lynch wear back his Bills jersey after serving his three-week suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.


The running back who did Lynch’s job while he was out, Fred Jackson has already done a good job, ranking the fourth in the NFL in rushing with 291 yards. He also added 15 catches for 134 yards, averaging 10.5 touches per game as is about half of Lynch’s 20 touch last season. Now that Lynch is back with the team, the Bills plan to split the work between the two.

"Now Marshawn's back, and we'll take some of that load off (Fred) and evenly distribute it because both those guys are good," Bills coach Dick Jauron said.

The Bills will play against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The rival will have a new starting quarterback Chad Henne and make Tyler Thigpen to be the backup.

With both tight end Derek Schouman and right tackle Brad Butler suffering season-ending injuries, the Buffalo Bills signed rookie offensive tackle Jamon Meredith off Green Bay Packers’ practice squad and promoted tight end Jonathan Stupar on Tuesday to fill in the positions.


Both Butler and Schouman were hurt during Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will spend the rest of the season on Bills’ injured reserve. Butler was hurt late in the second quarter when Buccaneers defensive lineman Stylez White rolled into the back of Butler’s legs while attempting to strip the ball from quarterback Trent Edwards. And Schouman twisted his knee while being tackled after a 6-yard catch and was carted off the field late in the third quarter.

The replacement for Schouman, Stupar, spent most of last season in bills jersey on Buffalo’s practice squad, had a solid preseason but failed to make the Bills roster after the team made its final cuts. And Meredith, the replacement for Butler, was drafted in the fifth round by the Packers. Although he had 29 starts at South Carolina, he failed to make Green Bay’s roster.
