Vikings' Williamses may face four-game suspensions for use of banned substance

The Vikings defensive tackles Kevin Williams and Pat Williams tested positive last year for a banned drug that can mask the use of steroids. It was said that they took the weight-loss supplement StarCaps, which contained the diuretic bumetanide, which wasn't listed on the label but contained in StarCaps. Last week, U.S. District Judge Paul Magnuson sent the case back to state court. The Williamses have been fighting NFL-mandated four-game suspensions, and Hennepin County District Judge Gary Larson asked for and received assurances from NFL attorneys Joseph Schmitt and Dan Nash that the league will not take immediate action against the Williamses ahead of the season.


The Judge confirmed that he will move expeditiously and deliberately.

Two-time Pro Bowler John Henderson made his coach unhappy

The Jaguars DT John Henderson quit Tuesday OTAs because of shoulder injury. And he did not appear in today's practice. This made Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio unhappy.


Jack Del Rio told reporters that Henderson's shoulder injury was a minor one, and it was not necessary for him to quit practice for that.

Del Rio's unhappiness may come from other things. The Jaguars was a popular preseason Super Bowl pick last year, but it fell to the last place in the AFC South. No wonder why he became particular with his players.

Broncos goes on well without Cutler

After Jay Cutler was traded to the Bears, people guessed that some of Cutler's friends in the Broncos may also want to leave the team. Fact proved they are wrong. Everyone in the Broncos are currently working hard in practice under new coach Josh McDaniels.


Last week, Cutler's best friend Tony Scheffler was seen discussing with Josh McDaniels about offseason changes. McDaniels praised Scheffler foe his work and told the media that the Broncos are going well with the QBs they currently have. Everyone is doing their best.

Indeed, it is not necessary for Cutler's friends to follow him and find a better place to go. I do not mean that they are not as good as Cutler, but if they can do well, they prove themselves as well in the Broncos.

Bears' signing with Tinoisamoa will make Hillenmeyer in danger of losing job

As someone is cheering that Tinoisamoa's joining Bears will improve the team's defense, someone is worrying that he may lose job with Tinoisamoa's arrival.

Hunter Hillenmeyer is the worrying person. He was drafted in 2003. Because of health problems, he did not perform well last year, with only 18 tackles in 13 games.


And now a much better player is coming, unless Hillenmeyer can be back in form immediately and perform well enough, there will be no guarantee that he will not lose his current job in the bears.

Hopefully, the Bears will find a way to keep both players. I just still believe in Hillenmeyer's potential.

Broncos is improving its defense

After the Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels forced QB Jay Cutler to leave, Josh McDaniels chose another QB Kyle Orton. Kyle Orton did perform rather well while in the Bears. Other improvements is being done.


Broncos also signed Brian Dawkins to improve the defense. All of the effort to improve should be applauded, but the new top defense players are not talented enough to make the team win the coming season. Since there is still time, hope it is enough for the Broncos to reach its best.

Broncos' Marshall is dissatisfied with current contract

This year is WR Marshall's last year of his rookie contract with the Broncos, and last year was his second straight 1,000-yard season and first Pro Bowl-won season. And his pay should be raised to $2.2 million. But the Broncos still has not given him the raise, because of his injury and something else happened off the field.


That made Marshall dissatisfied. He does have injury on his hip, so he decided to leave the Broncos and to rehab in Orlando.

Whatever is going on with Marshall, and he has the right to be unhappy. But what he should realize is that the team may not consider him as important as himself does. As Kyle Orton and Chris Simms are competiting for taking reps with the No.1 defense, the team can just let other players compete for Marshall's position and may find a more qualified guy than him.

We may not see Harris on field for whole season

After it was confirmed that CB Walt Harris tore a ligament in his right knee, the 49ers coach Mike Singletary has been worrying about looking for a proper player for Harris' replacement.


In order to keep on the team's plans, the coach and GM, Scot McCloughan, have to do something. But it seems that it is not easy to find the right guy they are wanting. Singletary told that he was dissatisfied with both the veterans on market and the younger players in the team. Instead he expects the veteran CB Shawntae Spencer to come back, who tore his ACL last year during season.

Ochocinco's position in Bengals is in danger?

It was said that Carson Palmer's absence because of elbow problems partly caused Ochocinco's bad performance in 2008 seaon. Ochocinco only finished 53 receptions, 540 yards and four touchdowns during the 2008 season. And now since the veteran quarterback has been back in perfect form, Ochocinco is expected to prove his value again.


Palmer, however, denied his responsibility for Ochocinco’s bad performance in an interview on Sirius NFL Radio. It seemed that he was disappointed with Ochocinco and praised another teammate Chris Henry. We can consider his praises as both threaten and reminding to Ochocinco.

We can hope Ochocinco to prove him an elite WR again if he hears Palmer's statements.

Quinn V.S. Anderson, fiece competition begins

While looking OTAs conducted throughout the league this week, we can see that some notable quarterback competitions. One of the most notable compettions is in Cleveland, where Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson are competiting openly for the starting job under new coach Eric Mangini.


The first question for Mangini to ask is how to divide first-team reps between Quinn and Anderson during a pre-practice media session on Thursday. He said that both of them have done good jobs, with Quinn a little better than Anderson.

Although there are other choices such as Brett Ratliff and Richard Bartel Mangini shows more confidence on Quinn and Anderson.
