Former NFL TE Riemersma will run for Congress seat in Michigan

Jay Riemersma, Republican. He is also known as former Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers tight end. He will run for U.S. Rep. Peter Hoekstra's 2nd District seat in southwestern Michigan as Hoekstra has announced his candidacy for governor in 2010.

Riemersma played football at Zeeland High School. In 1996 he left Michigan and signed with the Buffalo Bills. He played for the Bills until 2002 and then signed with the Steelers. He tore his right Achilles' tendon in 2004 and retired in 2006. During his NFL career, he totally played 112 NFL games, caught 221 passes for 2,524 yards and scored 23 touchdowns.

Former NFL player joined congress. I hope he will perform as good as he did in the league.
